Letter-Post Items will be Marked with Commemorative Cancellation

On the 6th of July, the Statehood Day, at 9 p.m. Lithuanians all over the world will be invited to sing the national anthem (Tautiška giesmė). Lithuania Post will join the project organized for the fourth time by issuing a special commemorative cancellation bearing an encouragement to sing the anthem of Lithuania. The cancellation will be used to mark correspondence sent domestically and internationally.

“Lithuania Post is a state company with long-established traditions. It is important for us to cherish Lithuanian culture therefore we have joined the project. We hope that countrymen living abroad, who will receive letters marked with the commemorative cancellation, will not remain indifferent and will be among those singing the national anthem on July 6”, Head of Lithuania Post’s Marketing and Communication Department Rasa Kruopaitė-Lalienė said.

On June 25-30, all letter-post items sent from the main post offices in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys will be marked by the commemorative cancellation inviting to sing the national anthem on July 6.

The round shape cancellation will bear the inscription Lietuvos paštas together with the company’s logo. It will be circled by the inscription Liepos 6 d. 21 valandą (On July 6 at 9 p.m.).The whole cancellation will be surrounded by the inscription Tautiška giesmė aplink pasaulį (The national anthem around the world).

It is expected that more than 100 thousand receivers both in Lithuania and worldwide will receive letters marked with the commemorative cancellation.
