Lithuania Post is Awaiting for the Designs of Stamps 2014

September 23 is the last day until Lithuania Post is waiting for the draft designs to be used for the postage stamps of 2014. All in all, 19 stamps, 2 souvenir sheets, and two prepaid postcards will be released within the next year.

“Very many citizens think that only professional artists create postage stamps. This is a myth Lithuania Post is seeking to destroy. This is the second year when we are inviting all citizens not only to offer the themes for stamps, but also to create them,” Lithuania Post’s Head of Philatelic Department Ervinas Vaišnoras said.

Lithuania Post is waiting for the designs of postage stamps on the following themes before September 23: 300th Birth Anniversary of Kristijonas Donelaitis, Winter Olympic Games. Sochi, Chinese New Year, Shrove TuesdayMasks, 25th Anniversary of Vytautas Magnus University Restoration, 10th Anniversary of Lithuania's Accession to NATO, The Red Book of Lithuania, 10th Anniversary of Lithuania's Accession to the EU, Europe. The National Musical Instruments, Save the Baltic Sea, Lithuanian National Minorities. The Karaites, 90th Anniversary of the First Lithuania Song Festival.

Also, until November 18, the designs of stamps on the following themes can be submitted: 25th Anniversary of the Baltic Chain of Freedom, 500th Anniversary of the Battle of Orsha, 50th  Anniversary of the First Heart Surgery in Lithuania, Holy Christmas and New Year.

The first place winner having designed one stamp will receive a prize of 1 000 litas; respectively, the second place winner will receive 750 litas, the third place winner – 450 litas. The first place winner having presented a two-stamp design will receive a monetary prize of 1 500 litas. 1 000 litas will be awarded to the second place winner, 750 litas – to the third place winner.

The first, second, and third place winners having designed a souvenir sheet with one perforated stamp will receive the prizes of respectively 1 500, 1 000, and 750 litas.

The themes for stamps and souvenir sheets for 2014 are published on the Internet site of Lithuania Post at www.post.lt.

In the course of a year, Lithuania Post issues 25-30 postage stamps. Lithuania Post also provides courier, logistic, and financial intermediation services.
