Lithuania Post has Announced Postage Stamps Design Contest

Oct 31, 2013

Lithuania Post is inviting everyone to become an author of a postage stamp and declares the contest to create postage stamps, souvenir sheets, and pre-paid postcards open. The authors of the best works will be awarded monetary prizes, and the designs of first place winners will be printed.

“Entries for the contest may be submitted by everyone irrespective of the participants’ age or education. The most important thing is to present designs reflecting the theme and meeting the requirements of the contest; therefore, we expect to receive designs created by representatives of various professions, not only by artists,” Lithuania Post’s Director of Sales Division Arūnas Venckavičiussaid.

For the first time ever residents are invited to make designs of two pre-paid postcards on the themes St Christmas and the New Year. The pre-paid postcards bear pre-printed postage stamps.

The next year Lithuania Post is going to issue 22 stamps on 18 themes, one souvenir sheet, and 2 pre-paid postcards. Six themes have been offered by residents. Out of numerous themes offered by residents, the Postage Stamps Issuing Commission has selected the six ones: Lithuanian armed forces, postcrossing, lighthouses, the days of Mother and Father.

The authors of the best designs of postage stamps, souvenir sheets, and pre-paid postcards will be awarded monetary prizes. The first place winner will receive the prize of LTL 1,000 for one postage stamp. The winners of the second and third places will receive respectively LTL 750 and LTL 450. The author of the best design of two postage stamps will receive the award of LTL 1,500. The winners of the second and third places will receive respectively LTL 1,000 and LTL 750.

The first place winner of the design of the souvenir sheet with three perforated stamps will receive LTL 2,100, the awards for the second and third places winners are respectively LTL 1,400 and LTL 1,050. The author of the best design of the pre-paid postcard will receive an award of LTL 1,500, and the second and third place winners will receive LTL 1,000 and LTL 750.

The conditions of the contest and the themes of stamps, souvenir sheets, and pre-paid postcards to be issued in 2013 are available at the website of Lithuania Post www.post.lt.
