Lithuania Post Offers Special Christmas Postcards

Oct 31, 2013

Despite the fact that more than a month remains until the main winter holidays, Lithuania Post is inviting residents to see about Christmas greetings. From this day on, the main post offices start selling pre-paid Christmas postcards.

This is the first time ever Lithuania Post has issued pre-paid postcards of authorial work. Such postcards are special for no need for postage stamps that are already printed on the postcards.

Ignas Krupavičius, TV presenter of Labas rytas, Lietuva, the programme of the Lithuanian Radio and Television, and his wife Toma said that this was the first time they designed Christmas postcards. They are glad that Lithuania Post liked their designs best.

“Life is full of surprises, and this is one of them. We found out about this contest by accident and started putting forward the idea on taking part in it. Warmth. Love. Sentiments. Grandmother in the countryside. Warm mittens and socks knitted by her. This is how surrounded by Christmas mood the postcards came to the light”, Ignas and Toma Krupavičius said.

All in all, 10 draft designs have been submitted for the contest of pre-paid postcards. The postcards of red colour created by Ignas and Toma feature Christmas socks and mittens. Each of the postcards has been issued in the edition of 10 000 copies.

The nominal values of the postcards differ. They are LTL 1.35 for sending in Lithuania and LTL 2.45 for sending abroad. The selling prices are respectively LTL 2.65 and LTL 3.75.

The Public Limited Company Lietuvos paštas runs the widest network of postal access points in Lithuania. Lithuania Post also provides logistic, financial intermediation, and electronic services.
