Lithuania Post is Waiting for Proposals on Topics for Postage Stamps

Oct 31, 2013

It is the second subsequent year when Lithuania Post is addressing the public to give proposals on topics for postage stamps (2014). Both residents and various organizations can give their suggestions until February 15.

“Last year residents gave proposals on more than one thousand topics for postage stamps. Out of them, we have selected 6 topics based on which the stamps will be designed this year.

We hope that this year residents will actively offer topics and thus make their contribution to the design of postage stamps,” Lithuania Post’s Head of Philatelic Department Ervinas Vaišnoras said.

Suggestions regarding the topics for postage stamps can be given on Lithuania Post’s website www.post.lt or its profile at Facebook. If the offered topic is really original, Lithuania Post will release a stamp on this topic, and the author will be awarded.

There are no any limitations with regard to the topics or the authors of proposals. Suggestions can be made by everyone: residents and organizations. Proposals can be submitted until 15 February.

Last year the Postage Stamp Release Commission has selected 6 topics offered by residents: Lithuanian Armed Forces (offered by Nerijus Kisielius from Vilnius), Postcrossing (Laima Viršilaitė from Skuodas), Lighthouses (Jurgita Tamušaitienė from Kaunas), Laser Industry (Tomas Taškauskas from Vilnius), Mother’s and Father’s Day (Dovilė Sirtautaitė from Rukai village in Kėdainiai district).

On average, Lithuania Post issues 25-30 postage stamps in the course of a year. Lithuania Post also provides courier, logistic, and financial intermediation services.
