The charity project Pirk dramblį (Buy an Elephant), launched in Lithuania for the first time, is receiving a growing interest from the public. Lithuania Post is among those having decided to join this initiative. The company will give targeted support for project and will release an exceptional set of postcards. The postcards will be available for purchase at post offices and the Zoo of Lithuania in Kaunas.

Being one of the largest companies in the country, Lithuania Post is striving to develop a socially responsible business. Environmental protection is one of key priorities in social responsibility; therefore, in the opinion of Lithuania Post, the project Pirk dramblį, the aim of which is to help the zoo inhabitants, is both interesting and necessary.

“Every year Lithuania Post releases postage stamps featuring endangered species. We wish the future generations to see wonderful animals not only depicted in postage stamps, but in reality as well; therefore, we decided to make our contribution to this project. We do hope that the citizens will not remain indifferent with regard to this initiative and will send postcards to their friends and relatives with encouragement to donate to Kaunas Zoo,” Head of Marketing and Communication Department of Lithuania Post Rasa Kruopaitė-Lalienė said.

Lithuania Post’s postcards feature the main heroes of the project Pirk dramblį: the female donkey Roza, the female pygmy hippopotamus Coliukė, the tufted capuchin Muntis, the amur tiger Edas, and the female Grant's zebra Audra. 50 centas from each sold postcards will be transferred to the account of the Zoo of Lithuania.
