Regarding the search of registered correspondence items sent to the USA

May 16, 2016

We inform that from 1 October, 2015 the United States Postal Service (USPS) no longer offers information about the movement of registered items of correspondence. Due to the unilateral decision taken by the USPS, tracking data of registered correspondence items is no longer available not only for Lithuania Post but, also, for postal operators in many European Union member states and other countries.

Currently, there is no way to track outgoing registered correspondence to the USA, meanwhile, parcels tracking data in the search engine is available.

According to the Universal Postal Union documentation requirements, the data transfer of registered correspondence items is not mandatory.

Lithuania Post has applied to the USPS inviting to consider the exchange of shipment tracking data concluding a bilateral agreement, but the USPS rejected the proposal.

An alternative way to get the USPS tracking events is the possibility to connect to multilateral agreements. Currently, Lithuania Post is considering technical, legal, financial and operational conditions of the accession. Also, Lithuania Post is considering various other options and is communicating with other European postal operators to find the best and quick decisions that customers will be informed about in the near future.

We apologize for any inconvenience.
